About this house
rental
Situated in Shenandoah, this charming entire house for $155 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Summary: History and scenery all in one place. This quaint farmhouse, known as the Bobby Barron Home, is nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Historic District. This boutique & quirky stay offers newly renovated offerings while intentionally maintaining historic preservation down to the original bedroom built-ins. Whether you are seeking a nearby outdoor adventure or looking to take in the breathtaking mountain views, there is something for everyone. Let us bring the feeling of Shenandoah to you! The Space: *Now DOG FRIENDLY* Located just a mile from the Shenandoah River and right near our very favorite eateries, trailheads, scenic drives & local haunts! When you’re not exploring all the beauty that Shenandoah National Park and nearby attractions have to offer, we invite you to start your morning by taking in the mountain scape from the rocking chairs, spend time together around the table, and savor a nightcap on the front porch swings. It is only a 14 minute drive from the Massanutten ski resort, definitely great for outdoor activities! All three of the bedrooms are located on the upper level and include closet space. The first bedroom features a king bed, the second bedroom features a queen bed, and the third bedroom features two twin beds with trundles, toys and treasured books. We are a kid friendly property and provide a pack n play, high chair, and baby gate! The couch in the living room folds out into a sofa bed. The two full bathrooms are certainly cozy & quaint but feature original fixtures - including that gorgeous clawfoot tub - that we couldn’t bear to change too much. This property welcomes all of your furry companions! You can find a portable dog crate and food and water bowls so your pets feel just as home as you do! On the lower level, you’ll find the living room, dining room, breakfast nook and kitchen. It is fully equipped with appliances and stocked with the essentials. In order to preserve the 1902 construction, we have chosen not to install a dishwasher, and the refrigerator & microwave are located on the three-season outdoor porch. However, please know you won’t be “roughing it”! The home is of course outfitted with Wi-Fi, a SmartTV, heating & cooling, linens, extra pillows and blankets, a washer and dryer, and all of the expected essentials to ensure a comfortable, restful stay. Guest Access: You will have full and private access to the home. A unique code for the front door keypad will be provided upon check-in. The Neighborhood: The property is minutes away from the beauty and awe of Shenandoah National Park. Enjoy the scenic drive over. Looking for shopping or restaurants? There are a few local shops and eateries you can try such as Rudy's Diner and Mamma Mia's Italian. Need something a bit bigger? There is a Dollar General about 2 minutes away. Getting Around: We recommend bringing a car to get around Shenandoah. Other Things to Note: We are now pet friendly! Bring your dog along for the trip! Crate provided as we require your furry friend to be crated when left home alone. Limit one dog only, no cats or other animals. Please note that we collect $75 pet fees per stay. Interaction with Guests: While your host won't be available in person, we are here for you during your stay! We are just a message or phone call away. :)

We adored the house!3 bedrooms were perfect for two adults(friends) and 2 teens. Beds were super comfortable, house was very clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. Towels and linens were provided and lots of pillows! All of us enjoyed playing games available like Jenga and Scrabble.Owners were very responsive to our questions and suggestions.Couple of notes. There was no air conditioning unit in the master bedroom, just a fan, so it was a bit warm for July heat. The other 2 bedrooms had units as well as two units downstairs. There is no central air, but the units cooled the areas of the house really well. The bathrooms are tight especially the one upstairs. You have to side step around tub to get to the toilet or sink, refer to the pictures in the listing, If you are taller that 5"8-9 you may bang you knee on the sink cabinet. The upstairs bathroom access is only thru the master bedroom so unless you want to run downstairs in the middle of the night, you need to keep that bedroom door open. We were good with this as we only stayed 4 days, and got used to it quickly. The second bathroom was a full bathroom with shower. There was more wiggle room there and my guess is if you are taller that 6 feet you may hit your knees as well. Also that bathroom is downstairs and is off of the kitchen, the door is a bifold louvered doors and not fan to drown out sounds, just saying. We would definitely consider staying at this house on a future trip to Virginia.

The house was clean, cute, and well stocked. The bathrooms are super small and did not have coverings for the windows or locks on the doors, but we made it work. The air conditioning works great and the porches were nice to sit on while enjoying tea or reading. It was a great getaway and worked well for our group.
